Construction Moves Above Ground!

Construction continues on Brock CHC’s new home at 39 Cameron Street W. in Cannington. J.J. McGuire General Contractors and affiliated sub-trades have prepared the site and completed much of the underground work, including: excavation and disposal of contaminated waste, installation of shoring and structural caissons, installation of mechanical and electrical underground services, installation of vapour mitigation piping and system, installation of elevator pit and walls, structural grade beams and the structural slab. The site will undergo a significant transformation over the coming weeks as the installation of the structural steel begins (pictured above), followed by interior/exterior wall finishes.

The new 19,000 square foot health care facility will bring together Brock CHC’s current services and programs and will provide a community health hub for Durham’s northern communities, increasing access to allied health care services and community organizations. The facility will include a multi-purpose room with a teaching kitchen to facilitate fitness and health education programs and community events; seniors programming space; youth programming space; offices for community partners to provide accessible services to Brock Township; 2 dental operatories to bring the Region of Durham’s Oral Health Programs to north Durham; a community terrace garden that will yield fresh produce for our clients; wheelchair accessible and barrier-free spaces; modern clinic floor with 8 new clinic rooms. Expected date of completion is March 2024.
